How To Hide Drives In Windows 7 Using Command Prompt

Hide Drives In Windows 7 Using Command Prompt :

Here I am going to share another interesting use of Command Line. You can use the Command Prompt to hide one or more drives in the explorer. You can use a free tool to do the same but if you want you can easily hide a drive in a few seconds without using a third-party software.

Here is how to do it :

1. Type CMD in Start menu search area and hit Enter to launch Command Prompt. You can also find the Command Prompt at Start -> all programs -> Accessories.

Or,

2. In the Command Prompt, type Diskpart and enter. Click Yes if you are prompted with UAC (User Account Control) dialog-box.

3. After open diskpart window type List Volume and hit enter to see list all of your drives.

4. Select the drive that you want to hide. To do this, type Select Volume E (here, E is the drive letter) or Select Volume 3 (here 3 is the volume number).

 Or,

5. To hide a drive, type Remove Letter E. Here, E is the drive letter than you want to hide.
 6. Close all CMD window and it’s done.

To show the hidden drive, follow the steps given below :
1. Follow the procedure mentioned in step 1, 2, and 3.
 2. Select the volume number for which you want to assign a drive letter and show in the explorer. Type Select Volume 3 (here, 3 is the volume number that you hide before) and hit Enter key.
 3. After selected, type Assign Letter E and hit Enter key to see the drive in explorer(replace E with the drive letter that you have previously removed).

Thank You.
